This new series uses the forest as a metaphor for time.
My sister and I stand in front of one of the huge entrances to Bolsover Castle in England. We hold the key to the door between us. It is 1971.
This moment is held captive by a large maple tree in the forest surrounding Roe Lake on Pender Island. It is 2020 and the intervening decades lie embalmed between these two layers.
